Have you ever been in a room full of people, yet you felt all alone? Have you ever felt like you had no one to talk to about what was going on in your life? Loneliness is real! You don’t have to be alone to be lonely. I know I have periods in my life when I feel so alone. I have felt like no one really cared whether I was on this earth or not. These are strong statements. Statements people don’t like to think out loud or deal with. But I am here to tell you, “You are not alone!”. We have a friend that “sticks closer than a brother.”

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24)

That friend is… Jesus!

Does that mean we will never feel lonely? No, it doesn’t. It simply means we have hope. When we feel alone, we need to remember that we have a friend who is there 24/7. He is never too busy. He never turns his phone off. He never avoids us. Jesus is always waiting for us to call upon his name. When we feel lonely, we need to cry out to him.

“In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” (Psalm 18:6)

“Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy.” (Psalm 28:6)

People will fail us. They won’t always understand how we are feeling or know what to do. But Christ understands and cares for us. He is there to meet us in our time of need.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7)
